Hi Biro,
No, I don’t have a forged personality. I think I have a forged identity, for sure, and I think it’s cool to separate identity and personality. My identity I believe is very related to my parents and the places where I grew up.
But I think personality-wise, I have always been influenced by very very specific figures that maybe to some extent I tried to imitate because I thought they had the head space I wanted to be in, in that moment. Like oh she’s so cool and laid back, let me get into the things she consumes, let me dress like her, let me go to the places she goes. And boom that’s my personality. I still don’t know if I feel good or bad about this sort of “imitation game” but I guess we all borrow things from each other. We interchange. All the time.
All my life I’ve always had people telling me - you’re still building an identity. No I think my identity is there and I know it is.
My personaliy has been changing a lot. I think I shape-shifted a lot. Shapeshifter is one of my favourite words and concepts and also the title of one of my favourite songs: you know, I’ve been, like, very sweet. I’ve been a bitch. I’ve been a saint. I’ve been a cunt. And all of this --- was related to the people that were in my life at that moment. Not to frighten anyone but sometimes my personality changes a lot in just a day haha.
I tell myself it’s a good because I want to be constantly challenged. I want to be so many things at the same time, and I think I am. It’s evolving. I am evolving.
